Walking the Beach Watercolor Painting

Walking the Beach Watercolor Painting is 12 X 16 inches..... Crescent Beach on Block Island. My three year old grandson said, when he saw the painting, "Nana, you forgot me!"

Every time we walk along a beach some ancient
urge disturbs us so that we find ourselves shedding shoes
and garments or scavenging among seaweed and whitened timbers
like the homesick refugees of a long war.

BFF Watercolor Painting

BFF Watercolor Painting is from a Wet Canvas photo reference for this weekend's all media weekend drawing event. It is 5 x 6 so somewhat small for the subject matter, so presented some difficulties in that respect. I loved the lights in the reference but I'm not sure that I captured that as I would have liked here.

Friendship isn't a big thing - it's a million little things.

Bending Giraffe Watercolor Painting is 7 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches on Sennelier 140 pound watercolor paper.

"Sometimes it is necessary to reteach a thing its
loveliness...until it flowers again from within..."
Galway Kinnell

I read that quote this morning from an Al-anon book called "Courage to Change" - it speaks of learning from a silk worm and how even though it's fat and greedy, out of it's substance it creates something beautiful --- talking about turning negatives into positives and becoming the person we were meant to be. We are all born with this beauty inside us, "trapped behind old secrets and self-defeating attitudes. One day at a time I can delight in the splendid person I am becoming."
