Bananaquit Bird Watercolor painting

Bananaquit bird watercolor painting, 5 x 7 inches on Fabriano 140 pound watercolor paper. This is from a Wet Canvas weekend drawing event.

Some thoughts on the importance of a sense of humor, from "Courage to Change", an Al-anon Family Groups book:

A well developed sense of humor helps detach from personal
struggles and triumphs.
I will avoid taking myself too seriously today.
'One inch of joy surmounts of grief a span,
Because to laugh is proper to the man."
....Francois Rabelais

Seal Watercolor Painting

SOLD
Seal watercolor painting, 5 x 7 inches, and done on Fabriano 140 pound paper.

Some thoughts this morning on contentment from Max Lucado from "Safe in the Shepherd's Arms" - hope and encouragement from Psalm 23.... "What you have in your Shepherd is greater than what you don't have in life." All our "stuff" is not ours....ask any coroner....and our "stuff" is not who we are. So the economy, the stock market, global warming....we can surrender to God and trade that for God's "lightweight, tailor-made, sorrow resistant attache of gratitude".

Tulips Watercolor Painting

SOLD
Tulips watercolor is another painting done this weekend from a Wet Canvas drawing event and is 5 x 7 inches on Fabriano 140 pound paper. The temperature here is 28 degrees, so it's hard to believe spring is here, but I did see shoots of tulips coming through the frozen ground a few days ago.

One of the books I find inspiration for my life for is called "Courage to Change" and is from Al-anon Family Groups ...
"Nothing we do, however virtuous,
can be accomplished alone;
therefore, we are saved by love."
Reinhold Niebuhr

Butterfly watercolor Painting

Butterfly watercolor painting, 5 x 7" on Arches 300 pound paper. From a Wet Canvas weekend drawing event.

Thoughts today from Paul, within earshot of the sharpening blade that would sever his head, to Timothy,
"Remember Jesus Christ, who was raised from the dead....
This is the Good News that I preach."

(2 Timothy 2:8)

Baby Duck Watercolor Painting

Baby Duck watercolor painting is 7.5 x 7.5 inches.... a new little life.

Some thoughts on this from Gilda Radner:

"While we have the gift of life,
it seems to me the only tragedy
is to allow part of us to die--
whether it is our spirit, our creativity,
or our glorious uniqueness!"

Sailing Into New Harbor

Sailing into New Harbor is a 7 x 10 inch watercolor done on Arches 140 pound paper. Such a beautiful clear day on Block Island in September, with a limited number of people. We painted here all day near the Coast Guard House at the entrance of New Harbor. I have a four person art show March 29th at the watercolor society, so I have been busy with getting ready for that...not enough time to paint!!!

Consider the postage stamp: its usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing till it gets there. ....Josh Billings

Cattle Watercolor Painting

Cattle watercolor painting is 12 x 16 inches....who knew purple cows would work so well. I have not been able to do enough painting recently. I have a four person show in three weeks and have been getting organized for it - framing, matting, ordering, measuring, catologing.... I would definitely rather be painting.

Thoughts today on purple cows:

A Purple Cow
By Mr. Gelett Burgess
I never saw a Purple Cow,
I never hope to see one;
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one.
