Kitty Pals Watercolor Painting

Done from a reference photo on Wet Canvas for a weekend drawing event, this is 7.5 x 7.5" watercolor. I used a soft emerald green and cobalt violet for the grey in one, and added yellow to that for some of the areas in the other, to make the effect soft.

My thought for today is on the masks we sometimes wear and being "real".

"He didn't mind how he looked
to other people, because the nursery magic had made him Real, and when you are Real, shabbiness doesn't matter....you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand."
....
from the "Velveteen Rabbit" by Margery Williams

What is real? the author of "The Velveteen Woman", Brenda Waggoner asks, ....and answers:

"The journey to Real begins with a glimpse of God's love, and it ends with knowing---REALLY knowing---we are loved."

And don't mistake religion as glimpsing God's love. I love this quote from later on in her book,

"Religion is for people who are afraid of going to hell. Spirituality is for those who have been there."....Rose V, Member of AA.
