Mandevilla Vine Watercolor Painting

Mandevilla Vine watercolor painting was inspired by the two big pots of these flowers that I placed on my patio off my kitchen which grew up and over the railing of the deck. Unfortunately they grew so huge it wasn't possible to bring them inside before the winter. They had wrapped themselves over and over around the deck railing. This painting won honorable mention at the Watercolor Society's juried show.

Thought for today...I found this quote from "Courage to Change", an Al-anon devotional:

"Sometimes it is necessary to reteach a thing its loveliness...until it flowers again from within...." Galway Kinnell.

There are those of us who believe that we are responsible for the ugliness that surrounded us as children, constantly told we are the ugliness, but this quote speaks more to the story of the "Ugly Duckling" than anything else....the swan who was in the 'wrong family'.
