Deer in the Mist
Thoughts on Encouragement
Encouragers in our lives don't wear signs....we can all cite times when someone we barely knew gave us kind words of encouragement. Hebrews says,
"Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it."
Encouragers are like fueling stations along the way to one's destiny. God has them stationed intermittently throughout your life, just so that you can receive enough strength to go on. It's not optimism....that is just a positive attitude that is passive...you simply wait for things to get better. Receiving encouragement is like seeing land after months at see. It communicates hope to continue on your journey.
Who have been the encouragers in your life?
In the Bible, David, in the face of terrible circumstances over and over "encouraged himself" in the Lord. Reading the Psalms--most of them written by him---you can see this.
"He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights." Psalm 18:33
